The workshop was aimed at promoting brainstorming between members of the seven research teams, with the participation of distinguished guest speakers. The meeting covered the following topics: the growth and relevance of the private military and security sector; the challenges posed by private outsourcing to international humanitarian law and human rights law; the present status of national legislation and case-law. The workshop discussions were held under the Chatham House rule. A report of the proceedings will be made available soon.
