Luiss – Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali Guido Carli – is an independent University. It was set up by a consortium of private and public companies that reorganised a pre-existing institution, Pro Deo, over the years 1974-1978. Through its three Faculties of Economics, Law and Political Science, Luiss Guido Carli offers an advanced educational model whose purpose is to transmit knowledge and to equip the younger generation with the skills and flexibility they need to become the masters of their own future. At the Department of Law, Natalino Ronzitti is full Professor of International Law. He is Scientific Adviser of Istituto Affari Internazionali. He has been legal adviser to the Permanent Representative of Italy to the Conference on Disarmament and consultant with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Defence. He is one of the leading scholars in the field of the law of armed conflicts, publishing extensively on public international law.
